UK entrepreneur and philanthropist Greg Secker has joined forces with Filipino boxing great Nonito Donaire, Jr, to provide housing for over 100 families in the Philippine city of Iloilo. The families were displaced by Typhoon Haiyan (known as Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines), the “super typhoon” which devastated the country in 2013 and caused over $4.5 billion in damage in the Pacific.
Secker became aware of the plight of Iloilo’s families from his conversations with Filipina philanthropist Rosario Sanico. He pledged his support for Sanico`s housing initiative by committing to building more than 100 single family homes in the nearby community of Lemery. Secker’s project is called Build A House, Build A Home and is nearing completion.
Greg Secker is a veteran foreign exchange trader, speaker, financial educator, and author. Originally from Norfolk, England, he earned a degree in Agriculture before embarking on his career in finance at Thomas Cook, one of the UK’s leading brokerages. By 25, he was vice president of Mellon Financial in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he honed his trading techniques, eventually leaving the company in 2003 to become an independent trader. He is the founder of several companies, including Learn to Trade and FX Capital.
After returning to the UK in 2003, Secker turned to trading on his own and started to see the possibilities in starting an educational company that would train aspiring Forex traders. Learn to Trade now has offices around the world and has taught tens of thousands of students to trade profitably on the foreign exchange market.
Secker has also found success as a speaker. In 2010, he was one of a handful of speakers at the Ulimate Success Summit, alongside the likes of Tony Robbins and Richard Branson. His foundation supports a number of projects and initiatives, including the unique Flying Trader program, which provides trading tips to donors who support the foundation`s causes.
